RecyclingRecycling has been a mantra since the 60’s, and most of us recycle our papers and plastics, but we are still a long way from making it a truly core principle in American life – most of our cast-offs still end up in the garbage dump. This is complicated by the rise of high technology over the past 25 years. We haven’t even come remotely close to recycling a substantial amount of our trashed computers, cell phones, PDA’s, and VCR’s. The toxics in these devices are lethal, and are leaching into our soil and ground water as you read this. We need to make what amounts to a heroic effort if we are to make a substantial dent in this problem.
